Finance Associate

Position summary

The Finance Associate is responsible for supporting the reconciliation effort of all corporate level bank accounts.  Reporting provided by the Finance Associate will be used to guide and support key strategic decisions within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reconcile bank statements against general ledger balances utilizing automated or manual processes as appropriate, within given timelines
  • Recommend and implement new or revised cash account reconciliation procedures and coordinate change with the Accounting Manager as well as respective departments (i.e. Treasury, Operations, Loss Prevention, etc.)
  • Analyze and maintain analysis of cash accounts and bank charges including reconciliation to General Ledger and prepares associated entries and accruals
  • Contact and follow up with management regarding deposit discrepancies, missing deposits, etc.
  • Develop and record basic journal entries
  • Notify banks of missing statements or statement discrepancies as well as resolves statement discrepancies with banks or processors

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years previous office experience; prior finance / accounting experience preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Access and Excel
  • Able to utilize problem solving skills and perform root-cause analysis
  • Able to clearly and accurately communicate with internal and external customers
  • Able to develop and implement solutions for potential issues and opportunities
  • Able to operate with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to navigate through financial systems
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping skills
