Top 10 Resume Tips1. Name your resume after you! Preferably it should be your first initial and your lastname (PHerron.doc). Do not name your resume RESUME.DOC. Companies receive hundreds of resumes that are named resume and sometimes they get saved as resume and copied over. To insure that your resume gets saved, be sure to name it!

2. Save and send your resume in a MS Word or PDF file format. These file formats are universal and you can be sure that your resume will be read.

3. Do not include interests, family information, or any other personal information on your resume.

4. Do include a bulleted section called Skills that highlights some of your major abilities and gives the employer at a glance what you can do.

5. Include in your resume; Objective, Skills, Experience, Education. Include a line that states; Exceptional references available upon request.

6. Invest in a resume book or check one out at the library.

7. Have a friend edit and spell-check your resume.

8. Always include a separate cover letter when forwarding your resume.

9. Follow up with your prospective employer with a pleasant phone call expressing your interest in the position and your confidence that you would contribute to the organization.
